Ashley and I planted four tomato plants this year. It's the first time we've grown anything here, although my grandfather had a two acre farm when he was alive. Anyways, we were excited to pick our first two tomatoes yesterday. yum yum!!! smile.gif

Congrats!!!! So how does Ashley like gardening?

I know my girls LOVE it. We planted tomatoes this year and the cherry ones - the girls go out there and eat them right off the vine before I can get to them so we haven't been able to use them in salads or anything. Lately I've been sneaking to go pick them before they see them so I can at least get them washed first. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

How fun! Mine are no where near ready yet. rolleyes.gif actually , I kind of have them in a bad spot, so I don't think I am going to get much off them.
My kids do a lot of grazing too. we have had enough raspberries for a pie, but none of them make it into the house. rolling_smile.gif

I planted two in a topsy turvy and two in pots. We got a tomato from a topsy turvy and tomato from the potted one. The topsy turvy takes a lot more water... I am watering it twice a day because the water just runs out the bottom.

I planted mine a little late so none of the cherry tomatoes are ripe yet. Ashley loves to plant... she usually plants all the flowers but I have been wanting to grow a garden for a few years. We have a ton of trees in our back yard so the patio thing was our best option for the most sun unless we planted them in the front yard.

Tomatoes are easy to plant and maintain. Me and my daughter Kimi harvested tomatoes last month and we made a simple pizza out of that.

Congratulations! It is your labor and time which turned into tomatoes.
We have to offer time, labor and proper attention to grow veggies, pulses, cereals, condiments, fruits and crops.
The tomatoes are good for health, the red color of it is due to carotenoids.
It's botanical name is 'Solanum lycopersicum' It belongs to nightshade family. They are low in calories hence good for being slim and weight loss. They are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B3 and B6. Also contain copper, magnesium, phosphorous and iron.
