| My daughter Kayla, might have a gluten allergy. I have noticed when I give her anything with wheat or oats she has a reaction. She is getting tested in a couple weeks. I am very nervous. They are also testing her for a dairy allergy but I don't think she has that but tests never hurt I guess. Anyone delt with this and if is what should I expect if she has one? |

| I think it's coasterqueen (Karen) who's daughter has/had some prety bad allergies... you might want to PM her directly. I am sure she could give you plenty of advice! I hope the tests go well for her. |

| I think it is easier now than ever to deal with a kid with gluten allergies, although, the food is definitely more expensive. Now they mark everything that has an allergen in it, and they make gluten free anything you can imagine. even breads and cereals. If she does have an allergy, it will just take a short period of label reading and diet adjusting and you will be just fine. The only issue I can think of would be eating fast food. That stuff is full of allergens. |

| Hi there. There are parents on here with children with worse food allergies than my DD's were. Megan was (was being the key word, she just recently grew out of them) allergic to cotton seed, sesame seed, yellow dye, and chocolate. She also has a lactase deficiency, which is different from a dairy allergy or lactose intolerance. Definitely have them run panels for ALL possible food allergies, even the rare ones like my DD had. We thought she was possible dairy and gluten allergic, but she turned out not to be. There ARE ways you can determine if one has an allergy to it or not without going to a specialist, but it is time lengthy and a bit daunting....I've done it, but unfortunately didn't think to do it for the rare ones my daughter had at the time.
