Sadly..the fact that people assume that these things only happen in America is what could have prevented this from happening in the first place. That daycare should have been locked. These other countries always claim that IT ONLY HAPPENS IN AMERICA and then something happens and they say it again. How many times are they going to hear other seemingly peacefull countries utter those words before they start realizing that it's everywhere and they need to take precautions? Mentally ill people are all over the world..they are not just born in America.

I pray for those babies and daycare workers. Sadly..a simple lock on a door could have possibly prevented or at least given them time to react before this happened.

The last line says:

"(It's) something you hear about from America, not here," said bake shop owner Bie Hoornaert.

No offense, but this is what you are saddened by? ohmy.gif This person's opinion of America is the last thing that comes to my mind. I can think of a few things much more sad and horrific in that article. Those poor families, those poor kids, oh gosh, I can't even imagine. My heart breaks for them. They are all in my prayers.

I am just reading the article today and that line about America is not there. I reread it about 4 times just to make sure I didn't miss it. I'm assuming they must have removed it.

It does look like they took the last line off the article. Maybe they got complaints about it or something -- it is not really relevant to the story anyways.

This is so scary. It can happen anywhere. I hope all other day-cares and schools take this as a serious reminder how important safety is. That's another reason I chose Ashley's school, they are very particular about who they buzz in. When I toured the public school, anyone could walk in a roam the halls. I hope that changes... all schools, regardless of whether they are public or private, should be secure.

I haven't heard an update on the families. I hope the survivors are healing. My thoughts and prayers are with them. hug.gif

They are all in my prayers. I can't imagine having an experience like this or my daughter.

Oh don't get me wrong... it breaks my heart, definitely.

It just gets my goat that someone would say that it's something you only hear about from America, and I'm glad they removed that particular line.

ETA - i just looked at the article again, they didn't remove it. sleep.gif

bawling.gif That is just absolutely horrible! I honestly cannot fathom what would cause anyone to hurt a child or anyone for that matter!

sad.gif This article also brought out the stigma associated with the USA, I feel that this is wrong, violence happens everywhere, not just in the USA! It also brought out something that I was once accused of and that was because I had a mental illness that I would harm my children. Not all mentally ill people are violent!

bawling.gif It's just a tragedy, such a very awful tragedy! I can't imagine what those families are going through, my heart and prayers go out to them!
