Lately I've been having some rectal bleeding (sorry ![]() So who do I call? Is this an OB call? A proctologist? (I don't even know if we have one around here) Who do I even go to for help? TIA!!! |

Not too TMI. Could be a fissur (sp?). I have that sometimes too (after my stomach surgery). It's rare now, used to be everytime. Also, (now THIS might be TMI) it felt like I was trying to pass tortilla chips (i.e. sharp). Try drinking a glass of metimusil (sp?) to "loosen" everything up a little. I think I read it just has to heal itself. ![]() |

I have both hemorrhoids and fissures. I was diagnosed with these as a teenager and have suffered them for a long time. Rectal bleeding is very common for me and while surgery could correct the problem, the scar tissue could create more issues because of the degree of my problem, so I basically just deal. I would definitely get an opinion (I had another opinion 13 years ago, with the same recommendation - do nothing for now) from a proctologist or urologist (that's who I saw). Anyway, I know how you feel and I hope the problem is a manageable one for you. |

It's not something that really bothers me other than I want to know that it's just hemorrhoids or fissures or something else non-life threatening. I mean - isn't this one of the signs of colo-rectal cancer? Ulcerative colitis? I just want to have it checked out. So a proctologist - fun. I actually have a urologist because I have kidney stones but I didn't know they dealt with "the backdoor". |

When I was preg with Emma, I saw my OB for major hemmorhoid paiin. I had it again last week and I just happened to have an appointment with a gastroenterologist and he took a look and sent me to a vascular surgeon. I had it cut and now it feels better |

I think you are smart to see a doctor just to make sure it is nothing serious. I don't know if you remember, but I had some bleeding both when I would urinate and aftera BM. I saw my OB, who said it was coming from my cervix. They took a sample of the tissue and the cells turned out to be normal, and it was just some kind of trauma to my cervix. So.. it could be anything and the only way to know for sure is to go see your doc. I would ask your family doctor for a referral, s/he would know the best place for you to go. It's most likely nothing, but I will send P&PT's anyways. Keep us posted. |

Some do, some do, some don't. I would think that your urologist could recommend a good back door doc if he/she doesn't work around the corner. ![]() |

I actually ran into my OB's nurse at Walmart today and asked her what she thought. She thinks it's internal hemorrhoids so they are going to prescribe some supposotories (sp?) and if it's not better in two weeks they'll refer me to a GI. Thanks for your help everyone!!!! ![]() ![]() |
