i've been wanting to lose some weight and i definitly need to lose some weight. the problem is i have severe back problems that include curvature of the spine and chronic hip dislocation (basically my hip dosen't sit in the socket right) this effects not only the hip but the entire leg and foot as well. because of this it makes walking very difficult and painful (heck even sitting can be painful) this makes exercises such as jogging, walking, areobics out of the question. i've been doing some yoga/pilates but even those can be limited on what poses/exercises i can do. the extra weight is really getting to me but i just don't know what else i can do. i'm breastfeeding right now so i can't take any diet pills or anything like that. i try to watch what i eat but like said it's really starting to bother me a lot. sad.gif

Can you get a prescription to physical therapy from your doc? They can give you exercises that will be safe and maybe help your conditions.

What about an exercise bike? Would that be something you can do?

Good luck - that is such a tough situation to be in! hug.gif

Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for exercising in a swimming pool.

I agree with physical therapy. I had severe problems with my right hip. It hurt to walk, sit, do anything. I decided to go the PT route, even thinking there was NO WAY it was going to help. I just couldn't see how it could, but much to my surprise it helped tremendously! Also I think water exercise would be great too.

If you can't do any exercise and want to still lose weight, I lost 40 pounds after my 1st child just solely doing Weight Watchers. I was BF too, and WW has a great program for BF moms. It was, at that time, the easiest way for me to lose weight because I was nursing my DD every 2 hours (nursing 45 minutes at a time) so there was NO real time for me to work out.

yeah i've done physical therepy twice and it didn't help much. i've got an appointment with a doctor about my back thursday so maybe he'll have some ideas. i have done some water exercise and they are easier for me to do, maybe i'll give those a try again also. blush.gif

Did you get to the doc? What did he/she say?

As with all professions, you will get some good PT's and some not so good. Searching out a PT with lots of back experience or one that works with back surgeons may benefit you more than one who doesn't really take the time to look at you and figure out why you have the pain. Hope you feel better!! hug.gif
