ingrown hairs? I seem to get ingrown hairs whenever I pluck and I hate that. How do you prevent them, or can you?

You can "prevent them" by applying a warm cloth and squeezing the pus out... the idea is you get the hair out - so use a needle to lift the tip of it out of the follicle.

Good luck.. they suck.

I know one way to prevent them is to always always shave in the opposite direction that the hair grows and pluck in the same direction the hair grows. That's what I've always heard anyways.

Are you using shaving cream or just soap and water. I have found shaving creams work better for me, less ingrown hairs. And nothing with harsh perfumes that dry out skin. I use one with olive oil in it, no chemicals. I've read that alpha hydroxy is good for ingrown hairs, but it's always too harsh for me, Other than that, I would say try exfoliating the area before you shave. This may help loosen up dead skin that may be blocking the follicle. If you get an ingrown hair though, use a warm compress and don't squeeze. Let it naturally come to the surface and then use tweezer to pluck the hair out once it comes up.
