I've had this wart now for 3 years. It's on the side of my finger and growing down into the cuticle of the nail. I used compound W and then went to the compound W wart treatment bandaids, then I switched to the compound W Gel which seemed to help. But I finally broke down and asked my family doctor for a referal. I've seen 2 dermatologists, the first one I saw 5 times last year and all he did was freeze it and that did nothing. He then prescribed a oinment to put on it, but I couldn't afford it at the time, it was $80.00 and not covered. The second one told me that the Wart is underneath my fingernail and has made up this concoction that I have to put on it for 3-4 days, let it air for 3-4 days and restart the process. This concoction can only be made at one Pharmacy and it is really painful and I need to keep a band aid on it even when I'm not treating it. The skin around my finger is burnt and is very sensitive. There has to be a better way to get rid of this thing. I have 3 refills on this prescription and then I go back to see him. The prescription costs $50.00. He said if this doesn't work than he will need to lazor it off, another painful procedure that isn't covered by Ontario's Health Plan. So this would be very expensive. The wart has grown 3 times it's original size. It developed before Spencer and I went to Toronto in 2005. Anyway if anyone knows of any other remedies I sure would appreciate it! |

Duct tape works! Haven't you heard the saying "duct tape fixes everything"? It's true You put the duct tape over the wart and it cuts off the air supply from it. Without air the wart cannot survive and eventually (usually takes a week or so) it withers and falls/peels off like dead skin revealing a fresh pink new skin underneath. I swear by it! |

I've heard of the Duck Tape remedy, but wear it is, I'm not sure that it would work. I'll try anything at this point though! Thanks! |

No it's pretty painful and I keep it covered up when I'm out in public because it's just freakishly gross and if I'm appying for jobs that's the last thing I want anyone to see. Oh I should also mention that the first dermatologist said it wouldn't spread, well it did. So now I'm treating 3 warts, with the same solution. The other 2 are not nearly as bad as the original one. |

I always took a stright pin and pushed it through the wart left to right or right to left lol the put bleach on it with a Q Tip soaked then it dries up and you just pick it apart and squeeze it until the core comes out never had it come back ever Just keep repeating until its gone |

I had the same problem. I had 2 on one hand, both my "hand shaking" hand. (right). One was on the palm and the other on my index finger. They were both huge and gross. I tried EVERYTHING...all of the above, INCLUDING getting them frozen. They just grew back. Duct tape wouldn't stick What I did, and yes it was painful, was continue the compound W, and when it got all white and stuff I went at it w/finger nail trimmer getting all the virusy skin out. It hurts like you know what and sometimes will bleed like a stuck hog. It may of taken 2 months or more. For awhile I'd get it down to where you couldn't see the wart and then it'd grow back. But eventually, it didn't. The stuff he had you putting on probably didn't make it spread, because the virus lives in your body. I think my constant picking at the warts finally sparked my body to fight the virus. IMO that's what did it. I've been "wart free" for over a year now! |

I have actually done the "clipping away" of a wart before as well. Yes it hurts and it can be gross at times (you have to be careful it doesn't get infected) but for me it was a small wart on my foot and it went away after just two time of clipping it off. I also operate on my own ingrown toenails though... so I'm used to the pain One thing I found was that when I got rid of the one large wart I had on the palm of my hand (I had it frozen and thankfully it worked the first time), all of the other warts went away on their own. |
