Why is there war? Why is there global hunger? Why to a thousand different questions nobody has an answer to. Why do you love who you love? None of these questions has an easy answer.
For me, love is more then a quick attraction. More then the happy go lucky, fun times. Love transects all of that. For me it’s about the eyes.
Matthew 6 22:23 talks about how the eyes are the windows to the soul. The eyes can convey so much. They can grow wide with wonder, misty with pain, twinkle with amusement. They can become stormy with anger, roll in annoyance, and sometimes, if you’re lucky they can fill with love and adornment.
I’ve been lucky enough to gaze into Tim’s crystal blue eyes and see the love. When I look deep I’m surprised to see myself in them. It feels as if his soul is reaching out and connecting with me. As if it trusts me enough to let down the walls it’s built for safety.
Tim is a man of many emotions, most of which he hides from the world. Most people see him as slightly standoffish and having a sharp, sarcastic humor. Most people never get to experience the warm, loyal, caring person he buries deep inside. And even when my eyes are stormy with anger, or misted with hurt, I can look into his and still see forever staring back.
