I need some quick and easy apps to make for our NYE party.

I'm doing shrimp and Japanese Shrimp sauce, salsa and I'd like a couple others besides the standby cheese and meat.

What about making some Tomato Bruschetta... it's quick and easy and yummy.

Serves 12:
6 roma (plum) tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, packed in oil
3 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup fresh basil, stems removed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 French baguette
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1.Preheat the oven on broiler setting.
2.In a large bowl, combine the roma tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, basil, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes.
3.Cut the baguette into 3/4-inch slices. On a baking sheet, arrange the baguette slices in a single layer. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes, until slightly brown.
4.Divide the tomato mixture evenly over the baguette slices. Top the slices with mozzarella cheese.
5.Broil for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Bacon-wrapped Water Chestnuts

1/2 cup soy sauce
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 (8 oz) can whole water chestnuts, drained
9 to 12 thin slices of bacon

1. In small bowl mix soy sauce and brown sugar until sugar dissolves. Stir in water chestnuts and marinate, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes.
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Cut bacon slices crosswise in half. Drain water chestnuts, wrap each in a bacon slice; secure with toothpick. Arrange on baking sheet and bake until bacon is nicely browned, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain and serve warm.

And this dip is always a hit....All you start with is a can of corn, drained, then add chopped avocado, lime juice, minced red onion, and some chili of some kind, either the canned chopped stuff, salsa, whatever.

Serve with tortilla chips. I swear it's always gone in less than five minutes.

Monica, that sounds so good. I've looked at a similar recipe a couple of times but wasn't sure ... now I will have to try it.

Marie, the Texas Caviar I posted is really good too. http://forums.parentingclub.com/index.php?showtopic=82918 It has a sweet-tangy taste to it. The recipe yeilds a big batch, I made the mistake of doubling the recipe and I had three large tupperware bowls full...LOL. But, it still went fast between the two Christmas parties we went to.

Dee Dee, that recipe is one of those that sounds kind of weird but is REALLY yummy!!!

Marie, I was on this site, they have a section for NYE parties....some of it sounds good and they all look really easy!

This especially sounds good, I think I may use it for us on NYE. My grandpa always ate his apple pie with a slice of cheese melted on top, I'm guessing this is similar to the taste.

Here are some easy quick but really good recipes:

1. Take cream cheese and place on a plate, pour a jar of Pepper Jelly (as hot or sweet as you like) and then use crackers for spreading.

2. Jar of Heinz Chili Sauce, 1/4 to 1/2 cup grape jelly (others use cranberry jelly). Put these in a pot with either cocktail wieners or cooked meatballs (I buy frozen) and heat thoroughly.

3. Salsa and cream cheese in a blender and serve with tortilla chips.

Have a fun party
