So I decided to try a new meat while I was grocery shopping and picked up some round eye steaks, mostly because they were cheap. LOL! Well, I tried a recipe I found on allrecipes but it just wasn't what I expected. Could just be that I don't like the meat, but if anyone has a good recipe, I'd really appreciate it. I've got 4 more in my freezer that I'll eventually have to cook.

It's probably that you don't like the meat. I personally don't like it but DH loves it smothered in a gravy and all over rice. It take a LONG time for it to get tender and I usually burn it because I forget about it, so I don't make it too often.
How did you cook them?

I just simmered them in beef broth with diced tomatoes and onion. They came out really dry and bland.

I'll try to explain how I know how to cook them.
Put a little oil in your pan, just enough to cover the bottom. Put the round steak in the pan on med-med high heat and sear them. Let it get really brown, flip them every once and a while, adding a little water at a time to make a gravy and keep them from sticking. Do all of this uncovered. Once it gets seared add some more water, maybe 1/4 cup and cover, turn down a little, and cook for a long time, keeping watch on the water level. I guess about 30 minutes later take the cover off, add 1 med. chopped onion and scrape the bottom of the pan. Let that cook on about Medium for a little while to make some gravy.

That's the best way I can describe how I try to cook it. My MIL makes it so tender but I haven't found my knack with that at all.

Oh, season them before you begin. I just use an all purpose Cajun seasoning on mine...rubbed in to the meat.

Thanks so much! I'll definitely give it a try.

We only use a BBQ for meat - other than roasts etc....I am no help!

Throw on BBQ sauce and grill em up!
