I have been doing CIO with andrew for the last three weeks.
He is doing well at night..he goes to bed at 6pm and we put him in his own room, and just leave and he kinda whines for about 2 mins or less and then goes right to sleep. He occasionally wakes in the night but it sounds more like he turns over into the crib rail and is annoyed and goes right back to sleep. He is waking however any where from 430-530 am We make him stay in his bed until 6am, and then get him out..he doesnt go back to sleep he fusses the entire time.
I have tried giving him two naps during the day, one at 830am and one at 12noon. I put him in the crib and he cries for 90 mins. (most days so do I) he wont sleep. He never gives in. He is also still throwing up at nap time because he gets so worked up. So then we tried one nap..at 11am, but the same thing happened.
He is exhausted come dinner time, and we keep him up till 6pm just so he wont wake any earlier in the morning..
I am at a loss as to what to do. I have tried to just ask him to lay down on the couch and make nap time different..read him a book while he lays down, but he wont lay down, he wont follow command. I think he might be to young for that.
when Jake was little he used to sleep on one of those little kid foam couches, but andrew wont.
I would be ok with him missing nap if he wasnt rubbing his eyes and looking so tired all day.

I have found the naps were the hardest thing for my kids to figure out and it took MAJOR persistence on my part and eventually it just clicked!!!!!

If he is awake from 430am on, then he may very well be quite ready for a nap at 730am...........have you tried that trick? It just hit me that he has been awake since 430am....don't get him up, but keep in mind that he should only be awake 3 hours at any given time!

He is up at 430 but we dont get him out of his bed until 6am I guess he could go to bed early, but I feel so bad to stick him back in there only 1 1/2 hours after he gets up for the 90 mins..but we havent tried that yet. I was sticking to the two nap schedule for one week.
but thats about to end.

I wish he would stop throwing up so I could give him a lovey..at least it would make me feel better wub.gif

Why not try that for 2 weeks - I mean really if he has been up since 430, he is more than ready by 730

so then he would need another nap in the afternoon probably right?

I never did CIO, so I am no help there. However, I am sure you are exhausted by nap time too. What if you kept to your nighttime routine since CIO is working so well but then took a nap together at nap time. At least it would get him into the routine of taking a nap. I loved to cuddle with Ashley at naptime.... just a thought wub.gif

Just asking....are you purposely putting him to bed at 6...I just think that's a bit early (only because I wouldn't want my kids up that early in the morning I guess, my kids go to bed between 9-10 though, I don't get home until 6 some nights so i want to spend time with them), because if that's the case then you could just make him stay up later and change his routine the next week or two. Otherwise, if you want him to go to bed that early then I agree with what Jen said.
