Andrew came down with bronchitis on monday, and be wed. had full blown pneumonia. We have been working constantly to keep him drinking and taking him to the dr for the last three days now, to keep him out of the hospital. He is on so many antibiotics and also nebulizer breathing treatments every 4 hours even thru the night. He had a real hard time breathing on wed night but is doing better now.
The oral steroids started today and man, is he just one miserable mean kid!
I cant wait till he feels like his old self again.
The good news is that this hasnt affected his sleep schedule at all!

Hey has anyone had to deal with something like this lately?
andrew doesnt have a fever anymore, so the antibiotics must be working..
but his cough seems so much worse to me.
Its so hard to tell if he feels worse because he is really just so bad right now from the steroids..he is a monster. He isnt really wanting to eat or drink.
I havent ever had a child with pneumonia and believe it or not in 12 yrs of nursing no patients with it either..
does it take a long time to get rid of the cough? I wonder if the steroids are breaking up the mucous and thats why it sounds so junky..we cant call the dr till tomorrow..

I don't have any advice, I just wanted to give some hugs and send my prayers and positive thoughts. Poor little guy, I hate when our little ones are sick. Please keep us posted on how he is doing. hug.gif

hug.gif poor guy and you as well. DH had something similar his doc never did give him a correct diganosis, but thats another story and TBH I think his cough was about 3 week or more but dont get discouraged, he waited till his cough was pretty bad before going, so I think had he gone in sooner and had be been diagonsed right it woudl not have been so long. Als DH's couhgs are always longer than the norm.
