Also, just for peave of mind, I never let them eat anywhere but at the table or high chair and Jack knows never to give Laila food unless I say it is ok. But at 18 months she wouldn't know any different and was trying to be a sweet sister

| I gave anika a mini rice cake today and then I went to the bathroom. Came back out and apparently she had decided that my 7 month old needed a rice cake (he hasnt even had cheerios or anything yet) and he was choking on it. It was so scary, I was grabbing the phone to call 911 when he finally gagged enough that he puked up his lunch and it dislodged the rice cake. So I guess that means no more giving Anika food and looking away for even a second when Riley is in the room. Im sure she ment good by it but that could of ended very badly!. |

| Yeah scary stuff....they always say never to leave a child with a baby even for a second. I still take one to the bathroom with me usually! | I let anika eat in the living room because some days its the only way to get her to eat. So I let her sit on the couch and watch her stupid show(I could kill lonnette the clown) and eat some days. Usually shes really good with him and just tries to give him his bottle or sippy cup but guess she had decided he was hungry. He was in a playpen (while I was changing out of my bathing suit at a pool) with his cousin on the weekend and got a hold of his mum mum cookie and choked on that to and my SIL almost had to rush him back out to the pool to get a life guard. So after those 2 times now I dont even want to attempt to give him a puff or cheerio for awhile. |

| I would be leary of food like that at that age, but I am quite a paranoid mother.....to this day I have never given my kids Cheerios.........and they are 5 and almost 2 |

| Anika was eating cheerios and puff wheat by 7 1/2 months. She only once choked and that was on a fish cracker I told my bf not to give her but he did anyway trying to hide it from me until she started choking. Just goes to show how every baby is different I guess because she was fine and he obviously isnt yet. He still gags on home made kind of lumpy baby food every once in awhile. I also feed anika hot dogs and grapes and all of that. My mom gave me shit the first time I told her I gave her a hot dog because when I was little she saw a baby choke on one at a mall. She never gave me hot dogs until I was in elementary school and she ran a day care out of her house and never ever gave any of those kids hot dogs. |

hmmm have you considered taking a child rescue class (or something similar) our hospital offers them and they reccamend you take them before you have your baby. They teach you infant cpr and things of that sort.. I was taught in a babysitters class that if you have an infant choking you don't have time to call 911 so its pretty important to know those things.  I'm glad he is ok SUPER scary!! |

| the 'back blows' werent working. I was taught a few years ago to position the baby on your arm supported by your thigh and have there head lower then the rest of there body and to 'hit' for lack of better word there back between the shoulder blade area. That was in grade 12 though which was 4 years ago. I guess Its time to go get all that stuff renewed as that stuff is constantly changing. |

yeah..hmmmm very scary!! Yeah it might be.. I know its time for me which I have been blessed so far not to have to deal with that kind of situation but that doesn't mean it wont happen. I'm glad he is ok!!! |

| I dont know what I would of done if it had turned out differently. I think most CPR things are only 'good' for 3 years if I remember? although the information does stick with you. Ive given cpr to an adult before but never to an infant, never had anything go that far thank god. Thanks for reminding me all about that I should look up and see the prices and when they offer it in my area. |
