Parenting Club Forums > General Infant Parenting > Am I not feeding him enough???

For about 2 weeks Waylon had gotten to where he would eat at 8:30, go to bed, then he wouldn't wake up until about 3:30-4:30 to eat again. Then back to sleep for about 3 more hours.
The last 3-4 days though he's been getting up at around 1:30, 3:30, 6, and then 7:30, all to eat.
In the day time he eats like this:

around 7:30 AM- nurse
9 AM - about 4 oz baby food
nurse again around 10-10:30 (morning nap follows around 11)
eat 4-6 oz. baby food around 1:00
nurse again around 2:00 (mid-day nap follows)
snack of about 2-3 oz baby food around 4:00
nurse again around 5-5:30 (afternoon catnap follows)
baby food - about 4 oz - around 7:00
nurse again before bed at 8-8:30

Now during the day his nurses are more distracted, and at night he's full-on feeding. They all equal out to about 5-8 min long.
Like I said, up until 3-4, maybe 5 days ago he'd gotten to where he was only waking once, really late at night, to eat.
Any ideas?
I miss my sleep.....

Yep, sounds like he's just growing. As for the distractions during the daytime nursings, I think it's him becoming more aware of things going on around him, have you tried sitting in a dim/quiet room to see if that helps?

Growth spurt. Gotta love them, but eventually this too shall pass. tongue.gif I used to hate that term but you know, it's really true and one day when you are all done doing this types of things you really will miss them. After I stopped nursing the girls I didn't miss it a bit, then much later...I miss it now. I miss a lot of that stuff that at the time seemed terrible (no sleep, etc, etc). Now I wish I would have held on to those moments more. wub.gif

Also, if he's distracted and not nursing much in the daytime he'll tank up at night...just the way it is.

You know, I should know this. He went through this about 5-6 wks ago, too. I just wasn't thinking I guess, and started down the wrong track thinking-wise. wacko.gif laugh.gif
You're all probably right... he is just 6 months, right on time for another growth spurt. tongue.gif
Thanks!!!

Yep, usually every 3 months AND don't forget when you throw teething in there it just seems like they always have issues for at least the first year. tongue.gif
